After a romantic encounter with a beautiful passenger, he chooses to remain on the ship, never setting foot on land and never aging. As the years pass, he comes to be known as the 'mythical' 'Legend of the Pianista del Piroscafo'. Through his friendship with Max, a stoker on the ship, Legend is able to lead a solitary life of music and friendship on the sea. The film follows Legend's story until the ship is finally decommissioned and his fate is revealed.
