Runescape Skilling makes no sense (2024)

uhmm you don't pay my sub so I'll play however I want

theres no point in anything in runescape
actually theres no point of doing anything in any game
actually theres no point of doing anything in real life either

or just afk cannonballs for 3 months

haven't played in a while but iirc smithing rune platebodies was a good moneymaker

I think it's fine rune is hard to make but having to be almost max never made much sense to me

to be fair, smithing was added when rune gear (sans a few dragon items) were bis and the devs were worried about it being op. nowadays its super outdated though, even in osrs, but idk how you'd fix smithing from being something other than the ammo/alching fodder generator it is for ironmen without it breaking the game's balance

The original smithing levels were a joke, the creators went "lol nobody will ever get that high" and made most of the rune items available in shops

people sh*t on rs3, but smithing at least makes sense over there (you can smith rune stuff in the 50s i think). osrs desperately needs a smithing rework, but the stubborn autists that play probably would shoot it down if it came to a vote.

Runescape is probably still peak in the "MMO" aspect, but definitely not the "RPG" aspect.

Should I roll a helmie? I'm running out of things that I want to do on my main.

It's kept that way because it allows you to convert rune ore/bars indirectly into gp via HA.
